Charlotte White Center Receives
Verizon Foundation Grant
The Charlotte White Center (CWC) recently received funding in the amount of $5,000 from the Verizon Foundation in support of the agency’s Batterer’s Intervention Program.
The CWC Batterer’s Program is a court certified program which follows the New York Model by educating individuals convicted of domestic violence on how to interrupt the cycle of violence by learning what makes a healthy relationship. The goal of the program is to promote increased safety of victims, their children and other family members while providing a meaningful opportunity for abusers to change their behaviors.
Since 2000, the Verizon Foundation has dedicated technical, financial and human resources to help people in communities across the country live healthy, productive lives. They focus their efforts on two primary areas, education and literacy, and safety and health. Verizon participates in innovative programs to improve literacy and strengthen education achievements for children and adults, as well as initiatives that help prevent domestic violence and improve access to healthcare information and services.
Those who would like to contribute to the Charlotte White Center’s programs may do so by sending donations to the attention of Erica Kimball, Development Director at 34 Penn Plaza, Bangor, Maine.
