Charlotte White Center Receives Grants

Dover-Foxcroft, ME –The Charlotte White Center (CWC) recently received funding in the amount of $50,000 from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation as a result of an application for grant funds to support two deserving projects; the agency’s LifeJackets program and a customized housing market study.

LifeJackets is a collaborative school and community based youth development program. LifeJackets offers youth opportunities to build trust, respect, dignity, life skills, and self-esteem. It empowers youth to take personal responsibility for their choices and actions through peer support, community service, wilderness adventure, and mentoring.

The housing market study will determine the housing needs of people with special needs; vulnerable populations and the general senior population in Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.

The Charlotte White Center (CWC) is a multi-service community agency with headquarters in Dover-Foxcroft. Programs provide a wide variety of services to adults and children living with challenges due to intellectual and developmental disabilities or behavioral health concerns.

The Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation is a private non-profit organization that promotes strengthening and supporting communities and draws upon the values and spirituality of the founders. The Foundation has a special interest in organizations and people who have less recourse to usual channels of resources, focusing on community-based initiatives, especially in the State of Maine. Most Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation awards are grants for special projects. Special projects include, but are not limited to, capital projects, innovation grants, special programs, and programmatic expansion.
