The Charlotte White Center is a nonprofit agency, devoted to assisting adults and children with intellectual, behavioral, physical disabilities, and elder age related issues. With headquarters in Dover-Foxcroft Maine, the agency provides multiple levels of social services including: residential, day treatment, clinical counseling, vocational, and in-home supports.

that significantly benefits Maine's economy :

  • CWC operates 25 community service programs serving more than 700 adults and children monthly
  • CWC employs 483 people
  • CWC contributed $ 8.5 million in payroll last year
  • CWC contributed $1.3 million for health insurance coverage for its employees
  • CWC purchased more than$2 million in goods and services from Maine businesses
  • CWC contributes PILOT grant (payment in lieu of taxes) to municipalities
  • CWC recently created 4 new green jobs based in Piscataquis Count; 2 Full-time & 1 Part time in Weatherization Services and 1 Part time in the Greenhouse project
  • CWC Support Service programs added 14 new jobs in twelve months

 Innovative Programs & Partnerships:

  • Community Law Enforcement & Emergency Responders Crisis Intervention Training: CIT A National Rural Best Practice Model
  • Consumer Art Program; hosted at the Centre Theater in Dover; offered for sale by the Maine Craft Association
  • Life Jackets Program: Partnering with five Schools, the Junior Maine Guide program & Appalachian Mountain Club
  • CWC Greenhouse and UMO’s Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners Course
  • Outpatient Counseling Service Partnerships: Mayo Regional Hospital, Mt. View Youth Development Facility, Maine Veteran’s Home, Piscataquis County Jail, and Domestic Violence Batterers Intervention Program

 New Ventures:

  • Christmas Tree Farm
  • Greenhouse and Victory Gardens
  • Consumer Art Note Cards & Prints and Woodcraft Art Kit
  • Weatherization Services: Energy Audits, Weatherize CWC residential programs, and Sub-Contractor to Weatherize Piscataquis LIHEAP eligible households
